A bike for Ann

Ann is delighted with her bike but it really is dangerous for her to drive it to work because the road is extremely narrow, with huge ravines along both sides and has no, absolutely NO place for a bide rider. Yesterday I found a mobile home for her near us. We took her to see it and to the rental place. We're hoping she gets it.

Baton Rouge Temple

April 30th we went to the temple again. It is a privilege we may not always have. But as of right now we are able to go once a month. We leave from the center at 4:30 and get there just in time for the 7 o'clock session. It's a beautiful drive along the 12 freeway lined with trees and occasional lakes.

A moment to unwind

After we worked at the center this morning the Earnhart's took us to Mandeville to see Lake Pontchartrain. Notice the Spanish moss we have hanging from our trees.

Everything is green here. Look how pretty the flowers are. The gorgeous azaleas grow on enormous round bushes in the median, almost as big as a Volkswagen bus (slight exaggeration). They use them as hedges and you can hardly even see the leaves. Slidell is the camellia capital but I didn't get a picture as they were blooming in February when we first got here. They have lots of magnolia trees which are also huge, about the size of our flowering pear trees in Utah. When we went to the mission home in Jackson, Mississippi we saw majestic dogwood trees. The most amazing to me is that wisteria grows wild here. It is beautiful as it often is seen near trees that nature decorates with Spanish moss. This is a beautiful place to serve. I’m grateful.

The Matsons

Jerry and Barbara Matson, a wonderful couple from Idaho work in the Employment Center with us. Their selfless nature is amazing. We are so grateful for their kindness and help as we learn the ropes. They are always about ten steps ahead of us leading the way. We love to be included in their comings and goings. She is the world's best photographer and is always willing to share.
